Ditch, verge & off-road

A car that has slid onto a soft verge, into a ditch or got stuck in mud, snow or standing water is a different job from a breakdown. Every one is different, so I'd rather see it first: send me a photo and I'll tell you honestly whether I can get it out and onto the flatbed before I set off.

When to call

  • The car has slid into a ditch or onto a soft verge
  • It's stuck in mud, a field or on a track
  • Snow or ice means it can't get moving
  • It has been driven through flood water and won't start

How it works

  1. Get yourself somewhere safe, away from the car and the road
  2. Send me a photo and your location on WhatsApp
  3. I tell you straight if it's a job for me, and the price
  4. I recover it and take it where you choose

If you've broken down

Need this now?

Three things, in this order. The middle one takes one tap: your phone finds where you are and puts it in a WhatsApp message to me.

  1. Get safe first

Hazard lights on. On a fast road, get out on the side away from traffic and wait behind the barrier, not in the car. If anyone is hurt or you're in danger, call 999.

  2. Send me where you are

Tap the button and allow location. WhatsApp opens with a map pin to me, ready to send.

Or type the road and nearest junction on WhatsApp
  3. Agree the price, then I set off

I tell you the price and when I'll get to you. In most of Bedford that's 15 to 20 minutes. No membership needed.

Ditch, verge & off-road: questions

Can't see yours? Ask me on WhatsApp, in English or Romanian.

Can you get any car out of a ditch?

Not always, and I won't guess. That's why I ask for a photo first. If it's beyond what I can do safely, I'll tell you before you wait for me.

Should I try to drive out?

If the wheels just spin, stop. Spinning digs the car in deeper and can damage it.

My car went through flood water. Should I try to start it?

No. Starting it can let water into the engine. Leave it off and get it recovered.

Broken down?
Call Toma.

Tell me where you are and what happened. You'll have a price and a time before I set off.
